Privacy policy

This explains what personal information MRKT collects, why we collect it, how long we keep it, and how to reach us about it.

MRKT runs curated markets for local small businesses in Regina and Saskatoon.

This policy covers this website: what you send us through the forms on it, what we do with that, and how long we keep it. Where we send you somewhere else, such as our ticketing site, that service handles your information under its own privacy terms and this policy does not cover it.

What you give us

Everything in this section reaches us because you chose to send it. Nothing here is taken quietly in the background, and the things that are collected without you typing anything are in the next section rather than mixed in with these.

• Mailing list. Your email address.
• Contact form. Your name, your email address, the topic you select, and your message.
• Vendor shop enquiry form. Your name, email address, business name, the market you are asking about, and your message.
• Vendor application. The application form on our apply page is hosted by Dubsado and shown inside our page. It collects your name, email address, phone number, business name, city and province, your website and social media links, a description of what you sell, photographs of your booth, and your booth preferences. Most of those are required, because we cannot assess an application without them.
• Coupon book. The coupon page asks for a code printed on your ticket, and sends that code to our server to be checked. We do not ask for your name or your email address on that page.

Tickets are sold on a separate ticketing site, not on this one. Anything you enter when you buy a ticket is collected there, by that provider, under that provider's own privacy terms. We use what reaches us from them to fulfil your ticket.

What is collected automatically

Two things happen without you filling anything in, and both are ordinary rather than hidden:

• Server logs. Our web host keeps standard request logs, which include IP addresses, and uses them for security and troubleshooting.
• Your coupon code, in your own browser. Once you have entered a valid code, the coupon page saves it in your browser's local storage so you do not have to type it again. It stays on your device, it is the only thing this site stores there, and clearing this site's data in your browser removes it.

Why we use it

We use the information above for ticket fulfilment, event communications, customer service, vendor and product profiles, and to market future MRKT events that may be of interest to you.

We do not use it for anything else, and we do not sell it.

Your consent

We collect and use your personal information with your consent. Sending us a form is how that consent is given, and what we do with what you send is set out in Why we use it above.

You can withdraw your consent at any time by emailing us, and we explain what that means in Your choices below. Withdrawing consent for marketing does not affect a ticket you have already bought or an application you have already sent.

How long we keep it

As long as is reasonably necessary for the purposes above, with periodic cleanup of information that is no longer needed.

You do not have to wait for that cleanup. You can ask us to delete your information at any time, and we will unless we are required to keep it.

Who we share it with

We do not sell your information, and we do not share it with our sponsors or our venues.

We do share it with the service providers who run the tools this site and our markets depend on, and only so they can provide that service to us:

• Google. Form submissions, our mailing list and our email.
• Dubsado. Vendor applications.
• Vercel. Website hosting.
• Our ticketing provider. Ticket sales.

Some of these providers are based outside Canada, including in the United States, so your information may be stored or processed outside Canada and may be subject to the laws of the country it is held in.

We may also disclose information where the law requires it.

Cookies and tracking

Two parts of this site are not ours, and it is fairer to name them first than to make a clean claim and qualify it afterwards. The vendor application form is hosted by Dubsado inside our page, so anything it stores on your device is Dubsado's and is covered by Dubsado's own privacy terms rather than by this policy. And our typefaces and one script load from Google Fonts and Cloudflare, which means those companies receive your IP address when a page loads, in the same way they do across a very large part of the web.

Everything else is ours, and of that: we set no cookies, and we run no analytics, no tag manager, no advertising pixels and no tracking of any kind. Beyond the request logs described above, we do not follow you around the site, we do not build a profile of you, and there is nothing here for an advertiser to follow you with.

Marketing email

If you join our mailing list you will get market dates, vendor line-ups and ticket releases. Every marketing email we send identifies MRKT and includes a way to unsubscribe, and you can ask to be taken off the list at any time by emailing hello@mrktmarkets.com.

Your choices

You can ask us what personal information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, ask us to delete it, or withdraw your consent to us using it. Email hello@mrktmarkets.com. We may need to confirm who you are before we act on a request, so that nobody else can ask for your information or have it changed.

We will respond within 30 days, which is the timeframe Canadian privacy law sets for answering a request like this.

If you are not satisfied with how we have handled your information, you can complain to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada.

Security

We use reasonable safeguards to protect the information we hold, and access to it is limited to the people who need it to do their job. No method of sending or storing information over the internet is completely secure, so while the forms on this site ask for what we genuinely need, please do not use them to send us anything more sensitive than that, such as banking or payment details. We will never ask you for those by email.

Changes to this policy

If we change this policy we will post the new version on this page and update the date at the top.
